Tricky Women Tricky Realities is committed to being an inclusive space, free of discrimination
Tricky Women Tricky Realities sees itself as an inclusive and discrimination-free space for creative and personal exchange. Together, we want to create a space where everyone feels welcome and where interactions are characterized by respect. We envision a place where personal boundaries and the boundaries of others are respected, where we protect and support each other.
To achieve this, fair, open-minded, and solidaric forms of interaction are needed from everyone present. Participants, guests, as well as the team and partners, are therefore responsible for ensuring that Tricky Women Tricky Realities remains a place free from any form of discrimination and violence.
In this sense, we encourage everyone to contribute to shaping this space and establish a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination, harm, or violence of any kind.
In detail, this means for us:
- Take care of yourself and others. Respect boundaries and ask if you don't understand something.
- We wish that boundaries can be communicated openly and are respected.
- Respecting and communicating boundaries requires consent — mutual agreement. If a person does not consent to an action, rejects it, or wishes to stop it, we want this boundary to be respected. In other words: Yes means yes, and no means no.
- With your help, we strive to make this festival a Safer Space. A Safer Space is a place where personal boundaries are respected. A place where everyone is encouraged to respect one another and to express themselves freely without discrimination or violence.
- Discrimination is also expressed through language. We care about using respectful language, respecting people's self-identifications (names, pronouns), and ensuring that offensive and discriminatory language has no place.
- Some films in the program are marked with content notes. These films are marked with a star. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe engaging with a particular topic, you may leave the cinema during the screening and return for the next short film. (Please contact the festival team if you feel that some films should have been marked with a content note but were not.)
- If you experience or witness discriminatory behavior, you are welcome to approach the Tricky Women Tricky Realities festival management at any time or ask other staff members to do so.
Awareness work and Safer Spaces are created through cooperation. We are happy to exchange ideas about our Awareness Guidelines! If you have questions, comments, or suggestions for improvement regarding our guidelines, feel free to approach our festival team on-site or contact us. We strive for a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination, harassment, and violence. Discriminatory or violent behavior may lead to exclusion from the event.
