ANIMATION FILM EVENING AT THE MARIA LASSNIG ATELIER IN KLAGENFURT

On May 8, 2026, the Maria Lassnig Atelier in Klagenfurt will be transformed into a cinema and open up a special dialogue between past and present: we present the previous winners of the Maria Lassnig Golden Film Reel. The program features works that use experimental visual languages to open up new artistic spaces.

The films by Mahboobeh Kalaee, Emma Calder, Carla Melo Gampert, Anu-Laura Tuttelberg, and Sandra Desmazières explore themes such as mother–daughter relationships, physicality, gender roles, fears, sexuality, and nature, showcasing the diversity and power of contemporary animation. At the same time, the evening connects to Maria Lassnig’s own filmmaking work, once again turning her studio into a vibrant space for exchange and artistic engagement. More here.
