CALL FOR ENTRIES: TRICKY WOMEN TRICKY REALITIES 2027

With the opening of submissions for Tricky Women Tricky Realities 2027, we officially kick off the new festival season. From March 10–14, 2027, we will celebrate bold and boundary-pushing animated works by women and/or genderqueer artists. Submissions are now open via FilmFreeway until October 11, 2026.

THE COMPETITION PROGRAMS

For our competition programs, we are looking forward to receiving new, visionary and daring animated films by women and/or genderqueer artists. Awards worth more than EUR 22,000 are up for grabs, including the Maria Lassnig Golden Film Reel, endowed with EUR 10,000.

OUT OF COMPETITION

Your film is older, but fits perfectly with Tricky Women Tricky Realities? Then we also look forward to receiving your submission by October 11, 2026 for our non-competitive sections. Here we especially welcome films exploring socio-political issues, working realities, queerness, solidarity and resistance, as well as works at the intersection of animation and documentary filmmaking, new media or expanded cinema. Particular attention is given to films engaging with social inequalities, gender and feminist perspectives.
